The best way to make a responsible decision about refractive vision correction is to be as informed as possible. This website provides much of the information and guidance you'll need to make your decision. However, if at any point, you need further clarification or more details, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Generally, to be a candidate for surgery, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years of age (21 for some procedures)
  • Have stable vision for one year — minor fluctuations may not disqualify you.
  • Have a correctable vision problem
  • Have eyes free of complicating injuries and diseases, each assessed individually.
  • Must not be pregnant or nursing

However, the only way to be absolutely sure you are an appropriate candidate for refractive vision correction is to have a complete assessment of your eyes and vision. Click on the appropriate item under the LEARN MORE menu to find a description of what's involved in the initial assessment as well as other resources to help you feel comfortable and confident with whatever decision you make.
