Information on Grants

A formal Grant Committee meets semi-annually to review and approve grant requests from applicants — one of whom must be affiliated with Gimbel Eye Centre.

The Grant Committee includes four Centre employees, four external members and the Foundation executive director. External members are selected to provide a range of appropriate skills and background.

The committee decides which projects will be awarded funds based on established criteria, to ensure that the mission of the Foundation is fulfilled and public funds are used appropriately.

A high priority is placed on projects that are innovative or developmental in nature and contribute directly to eye health. Collaboration and partnerships with other professionals and universities are given priority.
