Where the Money Goes
The Foundation provides funding for a variety of different research and education projects. Research is vital to evaluate new or modify existing ophthalmological technology and procedures, with the ultimate goal of improving vision.
Research has always been an important component of the work of Dr. Gimbel and his associates, even before the Foundation was established. Gimbel Eye Foundation has always been committed to educating other ophthalmologists and eye care professionals on the work that is done at the centre. The Foundation also funds activities that help educate other ophthalmologists and eye care professionals on the latest techniques.
The Foundation places a high priority on funding projects that are innovative or developmental in nature and contribute directly to eye health and preventing disease. Collaboration and partnerships with other professionals and universities are also encouraged. In addition to meeting the Foundation's mission, applicants must prove there is a demonstrated need for the project as well as for funding. Other sources of funding must be explored before an application will be considered.
