Glenn Gimbel
"My goal," says Glenn Gimbel, "is to ensure Gimbel Eye Centre continues to fulfill the leadership role we've played in ophthalmology services and to respond to patient requests to have access to our care." As President of I Care Services, Glenn Gimbel is responsible for the management company which provides staff, facilities and services to the physicians of Gimbel Eye Centre.
His highest priority for I Care Services, Ltd. is to "be the best management company for ophthalmology services." To meet this goal, Glenn brings a broad background in ophthalmology, sound business experience, and a deep personal commitment to perpetuating the innovative, high quality care provided by Gimbel Eye Centre.
Given the demands of his position, Glenn's personal background is an asset. The fourth child of Dr. Howard Gimbel and his wife Judy, Glenn grew up in a world focused on ophthalmology. As a teenager, he worked at the Centre, cleaning the facility, moving equipment, or doing chores as needed. Even when he left home to attend University, Glenn continued to work at the Centre during his summer vacations.
Glenn originally went to university with the goal of becoming a marriage and family therapist. He chose, instead, to apply his skills in a business environment. He graduated from Loma Linda University with a Bachelor of Science in behaviour science with a minor in psychology. His educational background lends itself to his leadership role and working closely with the people he leads.
After graduation, Glenn returned to Gimbel Eye Centre, where he gained experience in almost every part of the organization. He has worked as a Surgical Assistant, Clinical Coordinator, and Director of Operations. In addition, he also spent a year with the Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute (PCLI) in Chehalis, Washington. In this position as Director of Staff Services, Glenn was responsible for human resources, operations, and dealing with the site managers of all eight satellites. Throughout his career, Glenn has demonstrated a firm commitment to staff training, an ability to resolve interpersonal problems, strong communication skills, and quiet persistence. Glenn's combined experience at Gimbel Eye Centre and at PCLI was the perfect preparation for his current position.
Although Glenn enjoys his position at the Centre, he also values time with his family. Glenn and his wife, Beth, a personal trainer, have two boys, Blake (1991) and Hayden (1994). Glenn enjoys spending time with his active boys and particularly enjoys being outdoors. He is fond of water sports and has even taught barefoot water skiing.
