To research medical and health topics on-line, you may wish to visit PubMed at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi.

PubMed is a database produced and maintained by the National Library of Medicine and is comprised of more than 15 million citations for biomedical articles dating back to the 1950s. These citations are from MEDLINE (Medical Index of all journal articles published in all fields of medicine) as well as additional life science journals, including the latest articles in ophthalmology. The citations found in this database are considered peer reviewed (i.e., they have undergone academic, scientific and editorial scrutiny before being published).

To search PubMed, enter search terms in the query box and press the Enter key or click Go. The Feature Tabs, directly beneath the query box, provide access to additional search options. You may enter general terms (e.g., Gimbel or LASIK) or you may enter phrases by entering the phrase in quotation marks (e.g., “Gimbel Eye Centre” or “laser in situ keratomileusis”). NOTE: If you find the abstracts too restricting, PubMed also provides links to many sites offering full text articles and other related resources.
