LASIK Surgery
LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a popular vision correction treatment designed to correct common conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. This treatment utilizes a high-powered laser to help the eye better refract light, which can make focus sharper and reduce the need for glasses or contacts. Our doctors use the advanced IntraLase® LASIK technique, which takes just minutes to perform.
Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK)
Some individuals who have corneas that are too thin for a LASIK procedure may benefit from PRK as an alternative. PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) also utilizes laser energy to treat refractive errors that produce problems with visual focus. This treatment has helped many patients diminish reliance on corrective eyewear to see clearly at a variety of distances.
Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL)
An implantable collamer lens (ICL) is often the best refractive option for many individuals, and can serve as an exceptional alternative for patients whether they are candidates for laser vision correction or not. Our practice offers the advanced Staar Visian® ICL, which is what’s known as a “Phakic IOL.” These types of lens implants do not require extraction of the eye’s natural lens; instead, they are placed in front of the lens and can be removed if necessary.
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)
Refractive lens exchange (RLE) is another innovative option for individuals who would like to be able to see clearly without heavy reliance on eyeglasses or contact lenses. Rather than using a laser to enhance vision, RLE involves the removal of the eye’s natural lens followed by replacement with an intraocular lens implant designed to provide sharper focus.
Intraocular Lenses (IOLs)
Our eye doctors offer a vast selection of intraocular lenses (IOLs) that can significantly improve vision. Included among our lens implant options are monofocal and multifocal lenses that can be effective for cataract surgery patients as well as individuals who have chosen a refractive lens exchange procedure to enhance their vision.
Vision Enhancements
Although rare, some individuals experience regressive changes in their eyesight after a vision correction procedure. In these cases, a vision enhancement may be possible.
Cataract Surgery
Most individuals will be affected by a cataract at some point. Cataracts lead to a progressive clouding of the eye’s natural lens—if they remain untreated, they can cause severe vision loss and even blindness. Fortunately, cataract surgery can remove the cataract and replace the lens with a lens implant to prevent further vision degradation and enhance the ability to see more clearly.
Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking
Corneal collagen cross-linking is a procedure that can address keratoconus, corneal ectasia, and other corneal conditions. This treatment can ultimately help to reduce the risk of further vision distortion and, for some individuals, it may diminish the necessity of a more extensive procedure, such as a corneal transplant. Corneal collagen cross-linking is often an extra procedure added to laser eye surgery to enhance the safety of those treatments.
LipiFlow® Dry Eye Treatment
